Welcome Bastian Scott Woodland

I know it has been a while since I have posted but there is a good reason, we had our second child- Bastian Scott was born on September 28,2010. He was four weeks early. Here is his story-
The day of my baby shower which was September 16Th seemed to be going like any other day. I got up took Dan to work started to make cupcakes for the shower. Then I had my doc. appointment at 3:20. Every thing to me seemed fine but then when they took my blood pressure it was high. So they had me lay on my side till the doc came in. Then the doc came and took it again but it was still high. So she asked if I could go to the hospital, I said if I have to I will. She said well it is pretty high so I really did have to go. Well I went out to the car called Dan and told him what was going on. He was able to get some one to cover the rest of his shift and we went to the hospital. Poor Raelynn was so board. So I called my mom and told her that I might be late and that Dan's mom was going to pick up Raelynn and bring her over. So at the hospital they hooked me up to an IV and a monitor for the baby and took my pressure again. It was still high. By about 6:30 I saw a doc. and they told me that I had preeclampsia and that they want to keep me in the hospital because it could go to being really bad really fast and they wanted to get me to 36 weeks, and I was at 34. So I called my mom and told her to go ahead with the baby shower with out me.
When they finely moved me to a room around 11 I was tired and up set. I knew how expensive it would be and being away from Raelynn that long would be hard. They came in every few hours to take my vitals. It was pretty boring I was not allowed to walk except to the bathroom. Then they weighed me the next morning and I had gained ten lb of water wight . But they kept me on the IV. So by the second day with the same result they took me off. I was happy because it made it easier to sleep. My parents were great for being so willing to take care of Raelynn. They would bring her to see me most days. The first week went really slow, the Internet wouldn't always work and since we were so unprepared we didn't have anything with us the first two day's. Dan had to make several trips to our house to take care of the dogs and pick things up as time went on.
The second week was still slow. I got sick a few times and they would get my hopes up and say they might deliver but no such luck. By September 28Th I was happy that it had finely come. But the c-section was not till 5. I counted down the hours till they finely got me. They came and took me back to get me ready. I was excised thinking it was going to be as great as Raelynn's birth. They took me into the O.R gave me my spinal which was great. Then I started to feel a little sick. Luckily though I didn't through up. They got me positioned on the table put the sheet up and started their work. This was not as pleasant as Raelynn's I felt everything this time- the pushing tugging and pulling. Then out he came- I was so happy he was out but a little worried because he didn't cry right away. They weighed him and he was 4lb 9.2oz and 18inc long. Then they kept pulling and tugging and I started to cry because I felt like I couldn't breath. So they put me on oxygen. They finely got me stitched and stapled up and into recovery. There the problems continued. I was so cold they put five or six blankets on me. They still could not get my blood pressure under control and my temp was way low. so from about 7-10:30 I was in recovery. They gave me magnesium for my blood pressure and got my temp up. On they way to my room they stop at observation so I could see him. Then off to my room. I don't remember a lot that night because I was pretty drugged up. But they finely brought him to our room around 11:30. He had a little jondus but every thing was working and he was healthy.
Then next day was great we spent the day getting to know him. Then on Thursday he got circumcised. Well he got so upset after that that his oxygen level went down so he had to stay in observations for a few hours.
Then Friday I was ready to leave and thinking that Bastian would be able to come home with me because I was told by the NICU doc that 90% of 36 week old babies go home when mom goes home, I packed everything up to go. They called the doc to discharge Bastian so we waited for him to come look at him. Four hours latter he came. Said that he wants him to stay over night under the billy lights because his jondus levels were higher. So after crying for and hour feeding him I said good by and went home to my mom's and dad's. I called that next morning at 7 as soon as I got up to see how he was. They said his levels went way down and that he would probably be able to go home. So we went to the hospital to pick him up. Well the doc that saw him the day before was not there and a new doc came to look him over. She saw in his chart about his oxygen level (which the other doc said was not anything to be concerned about) and that he had lost about 5 oz but gained an oz back. She said she wanted him to stay for one more day to make sure he won't loose any more wight and that his oxygen would be OK. So upset and crying we went back to my parents packed our stuff up and went home. On Sunday I called again as soon as I got up they said the doc says he can go home if he passes his car seat test.
They would put him in the car seat hook him up to something that monitors his breathing and heart rate for the length of our trip home or a half hour. So we brought his seat in they got him hooked up and started the test. As soon as he was put in the seat he started crying. So his hart rate was to high and if we gave him a pacifier to calm him down is oxygen level would drop. So again we didn't get to bring him home. This time Dan was sad but they told us that they would test him again first thing in the morning and if he didn't pass again they could get a car bed for us.
Monday morning when I called they said he failed again but they got the bed for us and that we could come and pick him up! Finely after all this time our baby was coming home. So we went got him and his bed hooked up in the car and headed home.
